Let me find peace in the world all around me
and serenity in my brethren's face
Let me find food has filled the bellies of the hungry
Let the lonely feel a loved one's embrace
Let the afflicted and ill receive healing
and the homeless find a roof over their heads
That enemies have put down their rifles
and made atonement for the blood that they shed
That not a child on this earth is suffering
without water, or shelter or clothes
Let them not feel the sting of poverty
Let them blossom and prosper and grow
If just for one day this could happen
what a wonderful world it could be
But it takes more than wishing or dreaming
for we must all help our humanity
You and I have our paths in this lifetime
to do our best in the choices we make
to help anyone burdened with suffering
with hunger, despair or heartache
The first step is always the hardest
in making this ideal world come true
Love your neighbor as Jesus once taught us
because one day they may be caring for you
